Brandy and I are returning to Colorado tomorrow after visiting our friends Megan and Dan in Washington, DC. It’s been a great trip and an awesome way to spend my first true spring break since 1999. As an aside, I’m sure it’ll be weird for a while that I have a “school” schedule again. I’m finding it somewhat unbelievable that after May 2nd, I’m off until the middle of August. More time to spend on the summer project, I guess.
During this trip:
- We toured the capitol and sat in on a (relatively boring) House and Senate session
- We ate some kickass Brazilian “meatery” fare
- I drank some of my favorite not-made-in-Colorado microbrew… Magic Hat No. 9
- We visited a few of the monuments and such we didn’t get to see last time out here
- I found a guy’s wallet (I was going to mail it back to him, but he realized he’d lost it and saw me pick it up)
- We visited a few of the 8.2 gadzillion museums they have out here
- We got to sleep in a real bed in a real house through the hospitality of our friend Megan
We missed our trip up to NYC for a couple of days this time out, but we’ll catch that one next time.

So, since I posted the first post on the Bronco project I’ve sourced a number of parts (most of them ending up MUCH cheaper than I’d originally budgeted for them. So far, I have an engine (Ford 302ci V8), transsmission (Ford stock 3-speed), stock hood (to replace the one with the 3×4′ hole the previous owners put in the hood for that criminal hood scoop), and a new (undented) top with all clean glass.
I’m also going to replace the frame because it’s cheaper and easier to just replace it than it is to have mine blasted and powdercoated. Since mine has the bumper horns sawed off in the front (and bent in the rear) it’ll also save us having to regenerate those.
Next up is teardown (and more pics, most likely).

Over last weekend, I bought a project car. It’s my first but it’s one I’ve wanted for a while. What you see here is my 1966 Ford Bronco wagon project car. It began life in August of 1965 with a flat-six. By the time we’re done with it, it’ll have a 302 V8 and hopefully look a lot better than the catastrophe it is right now.
The body is relatively straight and the frame is good, so I figure I got a decent buy on it. We’re heading up north this weekend to scope out and probably buy a running 302, stock 3-speed tranny and a replacement hood (that scoop is a crime) for it from a company near Denver.

Just installed the newest version of Wordpress on my shiny new server at WestHost. Working on getting some posts moved over.
This is going to be a reboot of the Bregar.com blog and hopefully I can keep it going a bit better nowadays.
