I'm Justin Bregar and professionally I'm a designer, an educator and a filmmaker. Most recently I was a senior/staff level product designer at Wowza Media Systems. Now I'm a free agent doing some freelance and looking for my next landing spot.
I was born in Pueblo, Colorado longer ago than it feels like. I went to college and then landed in the Denver area for a good chunk of my professional life. I've been lucky enough to work for a handful of great companies. I know how to use Figma and Sketch... but I also know how to code HTML and CSS. I've been working remotely since before it was cool (2013) for companies all over the USA. I also teach off and on in the areas of user experience/product design, front-end web development and video/audio production.
I'm back to living in Pueblo with my awesome wife, great kid and a couple of four-legged friends.
I have too many hobbies. I make documentary films (one was even nominated for an Emmy). I like to tinker and DIY (both in the house and the garage). I've built and helped my son build a couple of award-winning Pinewood Derby cars. I've lived in Colorado my entire life but I don't ski. I play guitar really badly, but I have an incredibly cool barnwood telecaster built by my friend that uses barnwood from my grandparents' farm in southern Minnesota.
I'm a fan of mostly home teams (Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche) but the Minnesota Twins will always be my first MLB love.
My favorite documentary isĀ Tower by Keith Maitland. My favorite narrative film is The Crow by Alex Proyas and starring the late Brandon Lee.
I think product design, teaching and documentary filmmaking are far more similar than they are different and they all require a lot of the same skill set.
There are lots of stories lurking in this chunk of text. Ask me anything.
